We were kindly given a native beehive by a local customer whose house was to be demolished and we absolutely love it! The hive is home to thousands of native stingless bees, tetragonula carbonaria, the only species of social bee native to the Ku-ring-gai area. They just adore living in the garden centre, gorging on the endless supply of pollen our beautiful plants provide. Bees, worldwide, are under threat, so we’re really happy when the lovely team from Ku-ring-gai Council comes every couple of years & splits the hive to increase the numbers in the area. For more information about these wonderful bees, take a look at the council’s website.
